A veteran HR strategist and advisor, Dan knows that productive, motivated employees are the lifeblood of every successful organization. That’s why clients have relied on him to solve many of their most important and sensitive human resources decisions.
With nearly three decades of human resource management experience, Dan has worked with and advised senior-level executives across a wide variety of industries. He has extensive experience designing and managing employee recruitment, benefits, and compensation programs; salary and increase merit incentive programs; and a variety of progressive policies. He is also an acknowledged expert in employee conflict resolution, as well as HR compliance issues at both the local and national level.
Dan has spent much of career building HR departments from the ground up for companies ranging up to 15,000 employees. Having worked in corporate capacities, he understands the unique HR challenges organizations face—and just how critical the right employees are to a company’s success. He is a master at stepping into virtually any situation and coming up with winning solutions for particularly difficult issues.
In 1999, Dan became an independent consultant to some of the Washington Metro Area’s leading organizations. Responding to increasing client demand, Dan expanded his consultancy into Banner Associates, an enterprise offering a suite of services including HR consulting, training, and recruiting. Dan and his colleagues worked directly with organizations to solve problems companies recognized—but lacked the time or resources to address. As time progressed, Banner Associates evolved into an especially unique recruiting firm.
Prior to establishing Banner Associates, Dan spent many years in EVP/VP positions for such corporations as The JBG Companies in Washington, D.C. and The Primark Group/Disclosure in Bethesda, Md. Among his accomplishments are a series of unique initiatives he undertook that resulted in multi-million-dollar cost savings. He has also integrated a dozen acquired companies within 12 months, and he implemented national Web-based employee recruitment and benefit programs for a network of 20 companies.
Dan is a frequent speaker and workshop leader—locally, regionally, and nationally. He is often invited to chair or participate in senior-level roundtable forums. In addition to his ability to solve complex problems, Banner Associates clients appreciate Dan for his enthusiasm, caring attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
He founded WREPF (Washington Real Estate Personnel Forum). He is a member of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management); CORENET Global (Association for National and International Real Estate Professionals); IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management); AOBA (Apartment and Office Building Association); NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties); WIRRE (Women in Retail Real Estate); and CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women). Dan also serves on the Board of Directors of Word Dance Theater, a non-profit community outreach organization.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and a minor in Political Science from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
